Można było usłyszeć westchnienie ulgi dobiegające z Pałacu Prezydenckiego i kancelarii premiera, gdy w trzecim roku urzędowania, prezydent Stanów Zjednoczonych postanowił przyjechać do Polski. Wcześniej, przy różnych okazjach, zwiedził kawał Europy, ale nad Wisłę nie dotarł.
Okazuje się, że rację mieli ci, którzy uważają, że Ameryka odwraca się od Europy Środkowej. Według "Financial Times" wizyta w Warszawie ma trwać kilka godzin. Tym, którzy twierdzą, że to zrozumiałe, bo prezydent USA ma dużo roboty, przypomnę, że wcześniej spędzi dwa dni w Wielkiej Brytanii, a także wpadnie na szczyt G-8 we Francji.
Ciekaw jestem, ile polscy liderzy będą mieć czasu, aby porozmawiać z gościem. Po odliczeniu transportu, czynności protokolarnych i tłumaczeń może go zostać niewiele…

Not much time for Poland
One could hear an enormous sigh of relief coming from the Presidential Palace and Prime Minister's office when after three years, president Barack Obama decided to visit Poland. Earlier there were numerous times when he traveled to Europe but he never managed to come quite near enough to see us.
Turns out that those who said that America is turning away from Middle Eastern Europe were right. According to "Financial Times" the Warsaw visit is scheduled to take several hours only. Those who believe that's understandable because naturally Mr Obama is busy, let me remind you that prior to coming to Poland, president Obama will spend two days in Great Britain, and also attend the G-8 events in France.
I'm curious how much time the Polish leaders will actually have to talk to the guest. After deducting travelling time, the protocol and activities related to it, and translations, there might not be a lot of time left at all....
