Czas mija nieubłaganie, a w ciągu trzech tygodni nie udało się zmienić porządku prawnego w Libii. Amerykanie, po wykonaniu najtrudniejszej części akcji, wycofali swoje wojska i przekazali dowództwo Sojuszowi. Cały czas wspierają akcję wywiadowczą logistycznie, ale nad Libią latają samoloty innych państw.
Latają i popełniają coraz więcej błędów. Tak jak ostatnio pod Bregą, gdzie ostrzelano rebeliantów. Powód był banalny – na widok samolotów rebelianci zaczęli strzelać na wiwat w powietrze. To wystarczyło. Zginęło kilkunastu bojowników, w tym lekarz. Samoloty były francuskie. Do opinii publicznej dociera powoli prawda o sile bojowej powstańców. Gdy atakowali Bragę wojska Kaddafiego nie pozwoliły im podejść poza granicę skuteczności ognia. Ale ogień armii dyktatora był z tej odległości bardzo skuteczny. Zginęło wielu ludzi.
I tak wygląda ta wojna. Jeśli siły Kaddafiego ruszają się z kontrolowanych przez siebie obszarów, to po to, aby odbić pola naftowe, a nie miasta. Powstańcy nie są w stanie przeprowadzić żadnej ofensywy. Ich siły liczą ok. 10 tysięcy ludzi, z których niecałe 10% stanowią byli policjanci i inni mundurowi. Reszta to pospolite ruszenie. Nie dysponują łącznością, nie mają podstawowego, wojskowego przeszkolenia (działania zbiorowe, dowództwo, dyscyplina). Umieją strzelać z karabinów (jak każdy), ale nie potrafią posługiwać się skutecznie inną bronią. Wszystko to składa się na obraz nieciekawy, bez szans na szybkie i skuteczne zakończenie konfliktu.
Tymczasem okazuje się, że powściągliwa decyzja polskiego rządu na temat zaangażowania w tę wojnę, spotkała się z krytyką części PO. Podobno do wysłania wojska zachęcał Jerzy Buzek i kilku innych polityków…

Three weeks on the desert sands
Time is passing by with no mercy, and during last three weeks there has been a failure in establishing a new order in Libya. Americans, after conducting the hardest part of the action, withdrew their forces and gave the leadership to the Alliance. They are still supporting the action logistically, but there are different planes flying over Libya.
The planes are indeed flying and making more and more mistakes. Just like recently over Brega where they have shot the rebels. The reason was trivial – when the rebels notices the planes, they’ve started shooting with joy. That was enough. Numerous warriors have been killed, including a doctor. The planes were French. The truth about rebels’ fighting strength had reached the public matter. When Brega was attached, Kaddafi’s forces didn’t allow them to go anywhere pass the border of effective fire. But the dictator’s fire was very effective even from that distance. Many people died.
That’s what that war looks like. If Kaddafi’s forces move from the controlled regions, it is to regain the authority over oil fields not cities. The insurgents are incapable of conducting any offensive. Their forces are made of barely 10 thousand people, only 10% of them being police officers or other trained individuals. Others are simply common movement. They do not have radio connection, no basic military training (group activity, leadership, discipline). They know how to shoot the guns (like everyone does), but they don’t know how to operate any other weapons. All of that creates a very upsetting whole, without a significant chance to end the conflict quickly and effectively.
Meanwhile, it turns out that Polish government’s reserved decision regarding potential engagement in this war had been criticized by PO. It was mentioned that Jerzy Buzek and some other politicians were encouraging us to send some military forces…
