Dzisiaj wieczorem finał prac nad raportem na temat Europejskiej Polityki Sąsiedztwa, którego jestem sprawozdawcą. W praktyce Parlamentu Europejskiego funkcja ta oznacza obowiązek sformułowania raportu, zebrania poprawek, wynegocjowania kompromisu (tam, gdzie to możliwe) i w końcu przedstawienie tekstu pod głosowanie. To będzie mieć miejsce jutro, a dziś wieczorem debata.
Jednym z jej kontrowersyjnych tematów będzie na pewno perspektywa członkostwa. Dzisiaj nikt nie może obiecać Ukrainie, Mołdawii, Gruzji, Armenii, Azerbejdżanowi, a tym bardziej Białorusi, członkostwa w Unii Europejskiej. Mimo, że Traktat Rzymski daje takie prawo każdemu chętnemu państwu. Będziemy więc spierać się o lepsze sformułowanie: perspektywa europejska, perspektywa członkostwa, stowarzyszenie?

The final works
Tonight will be the final night of work regarding the report of the European Neighborhood Policy, for which I am a rapporteur. Practically, for the European Parliament it means that it is my duty to formulate the report, gather the notes, negotiate a compromise (wherever possible) and as a result, to show a final piece for the voting. That will take place tomorrow, tonight will be the debate.
One of its controversial subjects will be surely the aspect of membership. Today nobody can promise to Moldavia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and especially to Belarus that they will be able to become members of the European Union. Even though the Roman Treaty gives the right to join to every willing nation. We will be, therefore, arguing to grant a better phrasing: European perspective, membership perspective, association?
Tomorrow, I'll publish the results of the voting.
